What is Ombre Brows?
Ombre is a permanent powdered brows technique for people who prefer a fuller result than hairstrokes, whilst still looking very soft and natural. Ombre brows mimics the look of daily makeup done with eyebrow pencil or eyebrow shadow. The tails of the brow are darker and fade into a light beginning to the brow, giving a perfect Ombre makeup affect. The effects will be waterproof, smudge-proof and completely natural.
How is it different from a traditional tattoo?
Even though both ombre brows and traditional tattoo’s use a machine, the outcome is quiet different. Ombre brows only deposit pigment into the upper layers of the skin (just like Microblading) while a traditional tattoo goes deeper. We do not deposit pigment deep into the epidermis layer because going deeper would risk your eyebrows turning blue — one of the reasons why “traditional” brow tattoos usually changes colour overtime. The needle depth, method of shading, and pigment used are what differs Ombre Powder Brows from a traditional brow tattoo.
How long does it last?
Ombre brows will last about 12-18 months on average. This all depends on a few factors such as physical activities, your skin care routine, sun exposure, and skin type. Your skin type plays a major role on how well pigment stays in your skin. Extremely oily skin is known to have pigment fade faster than normal/dry skin. We recommend all clients have a colour boost treatment after 12-18 months in order to refresh the vibrancy of the pigment. Clients with oily skin must be prepared that they may need more frequent colour boost treatments as the pigment will fade quicker.
How long does the procedure take?
Between 2-3 hours. Please be prepared to have at least 3 hours blocked off from your schedule.
Does it hurt?
Anaesthetic numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure to help minimize any discomfort.
Can it go over an existing brow tattoo? We can’t determine this until you come into the clinic for us to fully look at it. There are a lot of considerations to take before we can make the decision to go over existing work.
Are Results immediate?
Immediate results are initially about 30 – 70% darker than the final healed result, and the area will become a little dry and flakey for about 5-10 days post procedure. You can resume normal activity immediately, though some clients will experience a little redness and swelling which will dissipate within the first 48 hours. After the initial healing, the top layer will flake off and the colour beneath may have seemingly disappeared, but this will start to develop again within the next 2-6 weeks. Uneven results can occur after your first treatment. This is dependant on how your skin accepts the pigment, and how well you look after the area whilst it’s healing. For this reason we offer an inclusive re-touch treatment 4-6 weeks later to perfect the colour and address any other alterations you may want to make.
Is it safe?
As with any permanent cosmetic procedure, there are always risks of scarring and infection. Following your aftercare instructions will help prevent any of these from happening. At our clinic, we strive in client safety and make sure to maintain a sterile environment. The tattoo pen is wrapped during the treatment to prevent cross contamination. All other items used within this procedure are disposable and removed by clinical waste. We are registered with the local authority.
